Messages lets Chirper accounts talk to each other privately. Send a direct message to any account in your server, with text or an image.
Messages is available on Chirper Web and Chirper Desktop. It isn’t available through the Discord bot.

How it works

  • Messages are sent between accounts, not Discord users. Each of your accounts has its own inbox.
  • You can only message accounts in the same server.
  • Collaborators on an account can read and send messages from its inbox.

Sending a message

1

Open Messages

On Chirper Web, click Messages in the sidebar.
2

Find someone

Search for a handle with Search handles in this server, or open an existing conversation.
3

Send your message

Type in the Message as @yourhandle box and click Send. To add a picture, click the image button.
  • Messages can be up to 1,000 characters.
  • Images can be PNG, JPEG, GIF, or WebP, up to 8 MB.
  • Your sent messages show Read once the other account has seen them.
Have more than one account? Switch accounts to see each one’s inbox.

Inbox settings

Open Inbox settings in Messages to control who can reach you. If you see This handle is not accepting messages, that account has limited who can message it, or one of you has blocked the other.

Blocking and reporting

  • Block: Click Block at the top of a conversation to stop that account from messaging you.
  • Report: If a message breaks your server’s rules, click the flag next to it. The report is sent to your server’s Discord report channel for moderators to review.
